“In the Asian culture, we operate by the honor and shame system. What happens in the family, stays in the family, even if you are a victim. I have found hope and healing.
I am here as the voice for the voiceless from all backgrounds and a beacon of hope to guide those who are still in the darkness to the light.
Even if we save only one life, it is worthwhile."
- Eileen Dong
Eileen Dong, a trailblazer combating human trafficking and gender-based violence, is a UNA-USA Global Goals Ambassador, Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient, and the Founder and Executive Director of Hope Pyx Global. Her mission encompasses ending abuse, exploitation, trafficking, violence, and torture, and building safe spaces for survivors of all backgrounds. A TEDx Speaker, Author of Amazon’s #1 New Release, "Thank Your Predator: A Guide to Trauma Recovery from Abuse", Subject Matter Expert, Consultant, and Law Enforcement Trainer, Dong uses innovative approaches through cross-sector, intergenerational and multidisciplinary collaborations on both high-level and grassroot efforts internationally.
Dong's triumph over cultural stigma regarding honor and shame from her polyvictimization has transformed her into a beacon of hope and inspiration as she champions the voiceless. Today, as a survivor leader, Eileen has become the bridge among law enforcement, victim service providers, and culturally specific communities on trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally-and-linguistically-sensitive care.
Additionally, Dong brings to the table valuable assets with her professional experience as a consultant for Center for Countering Human Trafficking, HSI, ICE, DOJ, US Attorney’s Office, and USCIS in matters of human trafficking and money laundering, as well as her diverse background as a supply chain executive on labor trafficking through a business lens. Eileen sits on various boards, advisory boards, committees, and coalitions locally and internationally.
Examples of innovations include the founding of The Ms Texas Show, the Voice of Hope; the creation of the International Survivor Survivors Network (S.A.V.E.), a safe platform for survivors; as well as the inception of the International Book Awards, the first and only of its kind to recognize survivors and advocates of human trafficking and gender-based violence through publications.
Eileen has been tirelessly volunteering with over 27,000 hours to date. Dong has trained law enforcement executives from around 18,000 police departments across the nation, and served over 11,000 people in the United States as well as Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Europe. Ms. Dong has testified in favor of the passage of SB49 Crime Victims' Compensation and the funding for the first trauma recovery center in Texas.
Dong’s merits have been recognized by various government officials, such as the U.S. Congress, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, and the Atlanta City Council. Houston's Mayor also proclaimed January 19th as Eileen Dong Day.
She has been featured on over 115 television stations and media platforms such as TED Talk, ABC 13, Fox 26, Addy, KHOU, CW39, in multiple languages with an audience of over 37.2 million around the world.
